? On adding power windows

Long post for a simple (I think) question, sorry.

Basically, I'm adding power windows, mirrors, and locks to my 91 Z. I got window motors, switches, and the complete harness from a parts car. On the harness, is a plug which I was planning on wiring to the ignition, putting a fuse in-line on the power wire to the switches (PNK) and being done in a short amount of time. This is that particular plug ...

When I crawled under the dash, I noticed the exact same plug, just hangin out under there. Same plug, same color wires, etc. If I'm reading the wiring diagrams right, this appears to be C238 and C239 (C239 being the part that plugs in then goes to the switches and the rest of the harness).

According to that wiring diagram, C238 runs into the fuse block and the "WDO Circuit Breaker". I cant tell because this thing isnt directly into the fuse block, it goes up in a loom back behind the kick panel and who knows where. So, just to try things out, I plugged in the power window harness, connected a switch, and it works.

So, here is the question. Well ... I got to thinking while typing this and went out with my ohm meter. Turned out I DO indeed have a WDO Circuit breaker in the fuse block, and that plug is wired to that. So, new question. Do I need to add an in-line fuse anywhere, or will I be ok to just plug this in and go?

Congrats, you have to figure if the wiring is already in the car then it has to be protected by the fuse box. It sure is nice not to have to do any extra work

Yea, I was wholly prepared for this to be a PITA wiring wise, but like you said, plug and play.

I have stripped quite a few cars and have noticed that there are alot of plugs that are standard in the harness. I installed a rear trunk release once and the plug was under the console but I had to run the wiring to the hatch.

Think about everything you want to add, get the wires from a donor car and you only have to run everything once. When I ran mine including speaker wires etc I had the interior stripped naked and ran wires like crazy. Go for broke

Re: ? On adding power windows

So yea, just a note to others who will be doing this. This link ...

http://www.p71interceptor.com/thirdgen/powerwindows/

Suggests that instead of using new rivets for the regulators, you can use 1/4 20 bolts. Yea, whoever wrote that is FULL OF ****. Save a lot of headaches, and just get the damn rivets ...
