ok 87 lg4.completelty redid the car top to bottom,installed wiring harness and have what looks like 2 identical plugs coming off same harness and only 1 recepticale left to plug into.cant seem to locate it on factory manuals wiring diagram.i need someone with a lg4 set up who can send pics and or even talk me thru it on the phone.please help wil pay for your time.

ok i posted some pics.all of this wiring is up around the master cyl/wiper motor area.as you can see both connectors appear identical.the wiring also seems the same pin with black tracer and a black wire. possibly remotely a tan with black tracer,just hard to really say if its not pink thats faded. anyways both wires are coming of the main harness from the ecm. the one female connector up near the map sensor and relay is the receptacle for one of these ends but im not sure just yet.also the old harness had a 2 foot "extension" plugged into it which i have but cant seem to figure out whats what anymore.cars is being restored so it wont run just yet so i can do trial and error. i was able to locate a possible connector on the schematic for a charcol canister control valve but those seems to be only on the tpi cars.this is a carb car and i know it did not come with this valve stock.what am i missing?is it that obvious?

i'll see if i can get you pics of that area on my car tonight when i get off work. it may be diffrent from 84-87 and my wireing might not be perfect but it should give you an idea

i think this one should have a connector comeing from the main harness into the driverside firewall and another comming off the firewall right above it somewhere. i'll check later.

but some of those other connectors look like they may go to the carb somewhere, have you checked all of those connestions. and there might be one for the ac compressor too. i know its not a o2 sensor because those are single plug, are all of those plugs on the drivers side? because if some are on the passenger side they may be for the smog stuff which may or may not be on the car anymore.

i dont have any more open femlae connectors except the one shown.all other plugs/connectors/accessories are plugged in

Yeah, there's an extra 'mystery' two wire connector that hangs down past the M/C on the '87 LG4 and apparently the '86 as well. I didn't see it on my '85 but didn't look real hard. Need me to check something specific I can.

Question: I've got two 2-wire connectors coming out of the harness up near the charcoal canister on mine, one goes to the steering gear pressure switch but I can't figure out what the other goes to? Get that far on yours?

must be fuel injected car as i have never seen an LG4 car with this plug or those relays there on the firewall either

what is the 8th digit of the vin code of the car

i see many possibilities in the wiring diagram for an 87 5.0L pink/black wire

including but not limited to:


5.0L carb:
air diverter valve
exh gas recirculater solenoid
canister purge solenoid valve
air select valve
throttle kicker relay
ECM-IGN fuse 10 amp
electronic spark control module
brake switch(auto trans)
vehicle speed sensor buffer

5.0L TPI:

guages fuse 10 amp, hot in run, bulb test or start
electronic spark control module
air diverter valve
injectors

audio alarm assembly- from guages fuse 10 amps, hot in run, bulb test or start

a/c compressor relay

Nah, those relays are correct for an 87 LG4. Looks like a clean, neat re-wire job too. Good Job.
