Installing headers and now no start???

Ok on wednesday I stared to get my old manifolds off my car and install my new MAC headers and y-pipe (which have great quality and fit great). Well everything was going together very nicely but on the passenger side, I had to remove the starter to get the header through the bottom. Well when I was trying to remove wires from the starter, I forgot to disconnect the battery and my wrench was on the positive and the end of my wrech hit the sheetmetal causing sparks to fly every where. All the wires seem to look like they are in good condition. But now when connect the battery everything works until I try to crank it and then everything just goes dead. But if I disconnect the battery for about two minutes and connect it back up, I will get all my power back. I'm thinking it is a fuse but I;m not really sure, so if anyone could help me on this please do so because I would like to hear my car since the header installation.

you might want to check the wires down by the starter. Some of them usually have a fusible link. Basically a wire smaller that melts when it gets too hot. That would probably be a good place to start.

How would you replace a fusible link? If you have a picture of one that would help greatly.
Thanks

Have you tried charging the battery. The battery cable can flow lots of electricty very fast. And can drian the battery. the fusible links should not have blown because they are after the battery cable in the circuit. Mike

Re: Installing headers and now no start???

Well I got it started and must say it was a great relief to hear that nice rumble. All I did was bend all the fusible links at where the they meet up at by the battery and it must have made the connection because it started right up. So now I need some advice on which link it is that needs replacing and how to replace one correctly.
Thanks

Re: Installing headers and now no start???

Probably the easiest way to do it is read out all the wires with a mulitmeter. Check them in ohm's if the resistance is near 0 then the wire is good. Usually greater than 1 and its bad. Just about any auto parts store has fusible link on the shelves. If not just ask. Maybe when i go home some time with my camaro we'll meet up. I'm originally from Defiance, OH
