ok this is kinda weird from my veiw point.. (im not familiar with the workings of this car yet) ok.. my drivers side window used to work.. and then it stopped so i figured the motor was bad... ok.. my ignition switch is sticky, and sometimes it stays stuck forward but not enouhg to engage the starter.. ok .. my steering wheel/ tilt section is extremely loose (the column is tight.. but where it tilts i can move it all around about 4 inches in any direction... and sometimes while turning my left blinker flickers... this is all connected because, the other day i was mad and jarred my steering wheel up.. hard.. then for some odd reason i pushed my drivers side window button and viola it rolled down... i dont get it... but after i shut the car off it wont work anymore... so whats the deal??? is it easy to tighten the steering wheel? and how do i go about doing it.. and whats the deal with my window and blinker.. ps.. my passenger window always works...oh yea.. this is in a 1983 trans am....

 

The window may be related to the ignition switch and inkage, or it could be coincidental. Either way, you already know that you need to repair the steering column before the wheel/upper column falls apart in your hands while driving.

Search the forums. There are many posts with detailed instructions for repairing rthe steering column tilt joint.
