insturnment cluster trouble!!!

hey, I was wondering if any of you know what I should do. I have a 89 camaro I-ROC and I just put a speedometer cable and gear in the car. the speedometer now works but the other gauges do not. It seems like i installed the insturnment cluster wrong but it all bolted back up. the gauges were working before I put the cable in. could it be the circuit board?, the bulbs still work liek the turning signals and the dash lights just not the rpm gauge oil pressure and engine temp. any advice would be helpful, thanks alot!

Shaun

Re: insturnment cluster trouble!!!

Sounds like the cluster's not seated properly.

Re: insturnment cluster trouble!!!

is there any special way it seats on? Ive taken it out and puttin it back in and so far the oil pressure and the tacometer works but still not the fuel and temp and battery gauge, i replaced the fuse too. could it be a bad connection with that circuit board thing in the back?, is ther any way i could get another one without having to get a whole new insturnment cluster? thanks

Re: insturnment cluster trouble!!!

when you take it out to check it again make sure the copper terminals are seated properly before you push the connector in. I've had the same problem before you're having now. And yes i believe you can get just the circuit board if you need to go that route.

I had a couple of broken traces on mine. Decided to solder some wire in to splice the breaks. You have to peel the clear plastic from the trace you want to repair, or just melt it away with the solder iron. I also soldered in all of the lugs to keep them from falling out and to ensure good connections to the associated gauges.

Thats a pretty good idea. I've never really thought of that. It sure beats buying a new circuit
