Fuel gauge works 1/2 way
A few months ago I had a fuel pump installed by a guy down the road. He had a lift, I didnt. The fuel gauge worked fine, till he changed the pump. It was a factory pump, so I didnt upgrade. Should have been a direct swap. Now it never reaches full, or empty. It stays between 1/4 and 3/4. It barely moves, and Im using the odometer to tell me when its time for gas. Is it possible he just hooked something up wrong, or backwards? Im gonna check, but wanted to see if someone had run into this problem before. I searched and didnt get anything like this. I just hope it isnt a sending unit. I have a long trip to make at the end of the month, and would like to have it working. Any ideas?

Unlikely that he hooked something up wrong, the gauge uses only one wire. I'd think that it's mechanical, maybe he bent the float arm or put the pump on in a way that limits the movement of the arm.

Im not sure about ur car but i have seen others not pay attention to the clocking of the pump when they put it in some times the float will hit something in the tank.
