Well first off is that I myself have this problem too...and for the time being before you can fix it...just slam the hatch down and it should stay down and not swing open at all...now it wont be completley air tight but its fine to get around.

my hatch has been like that for awhile now

Check the tech article on the TDS site on the sidebar of this page. It will give you the info and parts required to get your hatch working again.

when you open the door to your car does the lights turn on?... If not check your fuse... Cuz it happend to me also cept mine latched then sometime blew the fuse... then tried putting the t-tops back there.. hit the open switch and nothing.... Then my sister said that the int lights stopped working about the same time the hatch stopped. Checked my fuse and it was bad. replaced it and bam it opens.

ya I still get the light on and It clicks when I try to release it. I don't know it it makes a difference but it seems like the hatch has moved pretty far away from the rear end of the car. Like it has slid down quite a bit.

Re: HELP......Electric Hatch

Has the pull down retracted? On my Bird, if I don't put enough pressure on the hatch when I shut it, the pull down will go down and not latch on to the hatch at all. Trying to pop it doesn't work, it stays down. Like 86FireBird, I have to slam the hatch to get it to take properly. I know there is a "right" way to do this, but I have had good luck in praying that the glass won't break when I slam the hatch down.
