Unknown Wire

Hey guys! I have a 91' Camaro RS with a 305 in it and I just found a wire in the upper left corner of the engine that is not connected. When I first connect the wire a buzzing noise will come out of something right about the fuel tank. I can not see what it is. Does anyone know what the wire could go to?

Re: Unknown Wire

What color is the wire. What do you connect it to to make the buzzing noise? Sounds like part of the fuel pump circuitry.

Re: Unknown Wire

the wire is red and i plug it into another red wire.... i am guessing one goes to the battery and the other to the unknown spot. My car runs pretty good but is getting terrible gas mileage. I drive the car maybe 10 miles and it wastes 1/4 of the tank. I didnt know if it would have anything to do with this wire.

Re: Unknown Wire

could you get a pic of what it looks like and where it is at? that might help you get an answer quicker. but yeah sounds like something for the fuel pump

Here are some pictures. sorry if the quality is bad. In one picture it shows the wires and in the other it shows where the wires are located in the engine.

The orange wire goes to the hood light. The red one is the test wire for the fuel pump. When you add power to the fuel pump test wire it runs the pump. They do not hook together.
