Push button start?
Push button start?
My '85 camaro wont start. I was told this is due to the gears, of the key switch, being worn off at the bottom of the steering colomn. Instead of replacing them I want to make it push botton start, like a race car would have. How do I do this? I will still use the key to lock my steering wheel.

I was told
More likely, you just need to adjust the ignition switch; or worst-case, replace it. You can get a new one at any parts store for about $15.

Re: Push button start?
I would try looking at a few other things, such as the wiring to the starter, the neutral safety switch as well. There are a number of things that will cause that problem. As sofakingdom said, also try adjusting the ignition switch, there is a acuating rod that is moved when you turn the key, maybe thats all it is.Good luck with it.

Re: Push button start?
yes, I do. but WHY when you can fix it the ight way for less $.
#1 your gonna need a Good heady Duty Starter Button.
A Honda S2000 one is nice $39-90 depends on where you get it.
Then a typical 40/50A relay
Do a Google search you will find what you need from there.
