I have been doign a search on this board, and it seems i am looking for the dimmer control, a connector with a heatsink on it.

I have an 86 trans am and they told me on the firebirds there was a separate dimmer control that may be gone. I looked for it to the right of the steering column, but all i see is a long black connector on the right side, and a white connector on the left side.

any ideas where else it could be?

now i am runing a 4th gen dash but i dont think that has anything to do with it, because the interior lights/heatercontrol lights, etc never worked with the old 3rdgen dash.

Forgive me my stupid question but did you check the 5-amp INST LPS fuse under the dash?

I am no expert on Trans Ams but I thought the dimmer wheel was next to the light switch to the left of the steering wheel. Or am I wrong?

Got any pics of the 4th gen dash in the car? I'd be curious.

well the dash is a CAMARO dash and in the headlight switch there is a plug with a heatsink on it, but i thought on trans ams there was one by the steering column.

all the fuses are fine.
