T-56 swap speedo ???

Hey there,

My swap is done, I have a 355 w/ a carb, no computer. I haven't had the stock speedo working in a while and I'm using the stock tach. My car is a 91 firebird and uses the electronic speedo. I don't really want to buy the SGI box and convert it over. What speedo can I buy to just plug into the vss on the T-56? Also what speedo and tach can I buy to fit into the stock location?

I dont' know much about electronics on these vehicles, I was also wondering how to get into the dash and change out these gauges? After answering my first couple questions could you point me in the right direction for the dash?

Thank you.

Zach

You won't find an aftermarket gauge that fits the stock location easily, you'll have to fab a panel unless you want it in an external pod on top of the dash or something. Autometer's electronic speedos can be calibrated to work with the T56 VSS. That's what I'm using.

Here's a pic of the cluster I had in my '91 RS. My IROC uses the same gauges but in a different panel to fit the older style dash.
