you are going to need 2 specialty tools well only 1 if your whell comes right off. it presses all the guts in to allow you to take off a lock ring on the shaft. once that is off http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us...rInfoPages.htm
this link should get you trough the rest. Dont loose any screws down in the collumn and be gentle there is a lot of flimsy plastic that can break. Good luck.

Just wondering, did your wife loose your key too?

Before you go and yank out the gut's some words of advice.
I had a lock get stuck on me before and i went thru the entire process of pulling and swapping it for nothing.
It was a broken ignition switch which is on top of the colum toward the floor.
Just a handfull of screw's and total of 4 bolt's to find out.
Maybe take you 10 min's top once you get started, just take off the cover panel unbolt the 2 bolt's holding the colum up and you will see a rod going down to a white switch (well most of them are white) just unbolt the switch then try your key and see if it turn's.

No, my problem is that the ignition has been broken, can be started with a screw driver or any key lol. The real issue is, the car was loosing all power, so I pulled the connectors that are on top of the column under the dash, all the wires rubbed off onto the metal and were catching a little spark/fire/smoke, so I replaced all the wires and this is what it is doing now:
when you turn the key on, usually the fuel pump goes on etc, right, well this one does nothing, turn the key a mm or so past on and hold it, power comes on, then same with starting, have to get it in the right spot to start, then you have to hold the key past the on position for it to stay running, otherwise, when you let the key go, you loose all power and the car dies. Sorry but I cant drive and hold a key on @ the same time.
Would the ignition cylinder cause this? 88 2.8L camaro
