Blown Fuses and no guages?!
Ok, I was driving the car last night, with the lights on and everything was fine. I get to my buddies house, hang out for awhile, and leave. When I get into the car I turn my lights on, and the little bell won't go off, and I have no guages. The lights are on, they just wont function. The turn signals work too. So I check the fuses, sure enough the guage fuse was blown. I put another 10 amp in there and it did the same. So, then I replaced it with a 25 amp fuse, it worked for awhile, I started driving, and then poof, I lost all guage function.
I figured that this was due to having burnt bulbs for the license plate. But, this morning I stick a 30 amp fuse in it, just to have guages to go to work, and as soon as I turned the key the fuse blew.
What is wrong with my guages? Is there a short somewhere or what because I am stumped?!

oh geez.
You are lucky the car didnt burn.
There is a major short somewhere, which you made worse by putting in a larger fuse. You need to get out the multimeter and track down the short.
Edit:
Don't mean to sound harsh

Come to find out it was an easier fix than thought. When I removed the smog pump I just left the connectors that went to it loose up on top of the motor. Well, after doing heater hoses recently I had cut the zip ties holding them out of the way. What happened was one of the connectors fell down on the exhaust manifold and melted to it, in turn exposing both terminals in the connector and shorting everything out.
I know, most people are going to tell me to fix it right and do something about those loose connectors but that wont be until the motor comes out and there is some major work done to the car. So, yeah...they got a new zip tie.
Oh, no harshness detected man...thanks for the reply

You know whats funny? Same thing happened to me!
I did the motor swap and am no longer using one of my EGR connectors. I was driving and pop! my speedometer freezes and the interior lights go on. The blinkers stop working.
The plug had fallen onto the manifold amd melted to it. Easiest short I ever found! I had my multimeter out and my wire clippers and my test light. I was thinking "lets find this" and had set aside a few hours to track the thing down. Open the hood to start looking, and what do you know... had it fixed in 30 seconds.
