Pulldown Motor and Brake Light

Well, my pull down motor runs constantly when it is plugged in, but it doesn't go up or down. The motor is good, but the pull down unit doesn't move. Is there any fixable reason for this?

Also, how does the third brake light in the spoiler get wired in? Is there some kind of contact plate or something like that?

Thanks

Re: Pulldown Motor and Brake Light

Pull-down runs all the time, yet doesn't go up or down = bad gear nut. I sell it as TDS 109111 ($7) or you can get it from the dealer. The 1986-90 HMSL is powered by a spring-loaded contact and mating contact pad just to the left of the pull-down motor (as you are facing it from the rear of the car). I'm not sure how your 1985 hatch glass mounted HMSL is wired. It is likely hard-wired as the 1991-92 coupes HMSL are.
