ok, radar detector, is this a no brainer?

welp, i could get a passport 8500 x50 for $280 or a passport 5000 for $30................have no idea how the 2 compare to each other,so is this a no brainer?

obviously it depends on the condition of the detectors. Just make sure they detect laser, if not Ka-band and K-band is good. I don't think cops use X-band anymore...

well yeah the 5000 detects all plus laser but i was wondering if the newer model is worth more money? what do they do extend detection distnace or something? screw it , for 30 bucks how can ya beat it............

With laser it's one of two options.

Either you picked up traces bouncing off another car.

Or

You just got tagged! And now either get to look at your speedo to make sure you where under or look for a place to pull over.

There is no warning on it.

In the town i work in they use nothing but laser and have bored cop's so im around it daily. I should sue for radiation posining someday.

yeah, some detectors claim 360degree laser protection, but thats normally bs because a laser can only be used infront of a car (normally aimed at the front bumper) but what is important is that the detector detects the car infront of you being tagged....
