I Have a 92 305 Camaro RS and found out that i might have a bad pick-up. when i take the cap and rotor out there is a metal sheild around the distributor. i cant seem to get it off and i need to to take out the screws holding down the pick-up. any help would be usefull. thank you

Re: Pick-up Coil help

Not sure what exactly you're describing but you've got the dist out? Removed rollpin for gear and removed the shaft?

Before sinking too much into a new pickup coil you may consider purchasing a reman dist. They run around $100.

Re: Pick-up Coil help

theres a metal sheild around where the rotor would sit that is blocking me from getting to the set screws holding the pickup coil. if all else fails i was looking into getting a msd distributor for 250. i cant describe what it is that great because i have never seen this before. i havent removed the dist because i didnt see it necessary until i ran into this problem. im going to have my buddy look at it for me he's helped me fix my car before. thanks for the help

If you go MSD make sure you get the appropriate model, compatible with the computer controls.
