Rear Hatch motor Please Help

Please help I have a 91 RS with all power. The hatch has council release buton and electronic motor pull down for the hatch. The motor allowed the hatch to open but will not turn on to close the hatch now. Can anyone help with some tip and wiring diagrams. Thank you.

Re: Rear Hatch motor Please Help

it sounds like your sensor switch that recognizes when the hatch is shut to pull the lid down. Go to topdownsolutions.com and he sells new ones for $65. I wold like to know if this will fix the problem because mine is doing the same thing.
I have an 88. I went to a salavage yard and found another complete setup for $20. When I got it home I saw that it was in the down position and I should have realized that something was wrong with it. I took the switch out of it and put it in the one on the car and nothing changed. The newer unit keeps pulling down and won't stop. I think the reverse switch is bad.

Re: Rear Hatch motor Please Help

so after checking wires and such, ive come to the conclusion that i should take it apart and see what it looks like inside. low and behold, one of the wires on the motor itself was burned out, and it burned the brush too, so it looks like its time to go to the old "slam" latch instead lol
