Warm PCM relay on wife's vehicle

My wife's <cough>mountaineer<cough> has one hell of a miss. Idles rough and struggles under load.

I smell hot electronics after driving the vehicle for a mile or so and seem to have traced it to the power distribution box under the hood. There's a PCM (powertrain control module) relay that's warm when I touch the top of it. Is this a sign of it going bad? The fuel pump relay is right next to it and isn't warm, nor are any the others in the box.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Kelly
