Re: Hatch Motor

It could be either the reversing switch or the striker-sendsing switch. I suspect the reversing sensing switch is bad. What is suposed to happen is the motor will shut off when the reversing switch is tripped to end the down cycle. Here's how to test it. Remove it from the pull-down unit. Follow the instructions on the Tech Article I wrote that are posted on TGO or the instructions for the 109111 nylon guides that can be downloaded from my site (Top-Down Solutions). Once removed, turn it upside down to expose the two terminals that clip onto the tabs of the motor. Orient it as it it was a big L with those two terminals at the top and the socket that the white plug is installed is on the right. Flip the switch to the position it would be at the end of the down cycle. Using a multimeter or test light, check for continuity between the top right terminal and the orange wire. Check for continuity between the top left termial and the blue wire. Flip the switch as if at the end of the up cycle. Check for continuity between the top right terninal and the blue wire. Check for continuity between the top left terminal and the white wire. If it tests OK, then the reversing switch is not the problem. The problem is the striker-sensing switch. Both switches are available on my site.

Re: Hatch Motor

Release the latch. Reach inside and press on the striker-sensing switch which is located just in front of the latch. That may re-set it and cause it to come back up.
