H6054 Headlights
I changed my headlights resently as the old ones were getting rusty on the inside. The originals were H6052 according to the 82 Firebird manual. I couldn't find those so I got a set of H6054 which are supposed to be a direct replacement. They are sealed beam headlights so the bulb is part of the headlight and can't be removed. I took out the old one but found they were not original and not sealed beam. They were fitted with 55W halogen bulbs. The new H6054's I installed have 65W bulbs. I was wondering will this cause the headlight switch to burn out with the extra current from 55W to 65W per light. I know that the lights can be rewired using relays but I don't really want to have to do this.

Re: H6054 Headlights
you shouldn't have any problems. i had the silverstar H6054's in my 83 bird for almost a year and a half and no problems. the only time you'd have to worry about upgrading the harness is if you upgraded to the H4 bulb with the conversion lenses- that's because the H4 bulb draws a lot more current than the older sealed beams.
