1986 Z28...fuel gauge and volt gauge
All gauges work on my car except the fuel and volt gauge's. I have taken the gauges out and with a meter, tested all terminals on the dash head itself. The fuel gauge has three terminals...one of the terminals reads 12volts, one is ground (I believe) and the other reads between 98 to 115 ohms. I know by using my odometer that the gas tank is near empty, but when I fill it up the needle will only rise to 1/4.
Volt gauge....it just dont work at all. The dash head has two terminals for it, one ground and the other hot (12volts). The gauge itself has three leads coming off of it.
I ohmed out the fuel gauge today....it is reading between 150-170 ohms, doesnt matter if the needle is moved to F or E, I get the same readings. I did the same with the volt gauge.....170 ohms, no matter where the needle is moved to.
Is this good, bad or any different? thanx.
