Window Motor Testing/Cleaning

I did some searching and was surprised to come up empty handed on this matter. Anyways, I am finally going to switch out my old manual windows for power windows (regulators and motors). I got a set of window motors and regulators out of an 89 Camaro and my main concern is the condition of the motors.

What I would like to know is, how can I bench test the motors and if they work good, what can I do to clean them up and make sure they are lubricated?

Also, is there any good way to fix a bent regulator? One of mine is slightly bent on one of the arms and I think I can just bend it back, but would like to make sure.

Thanks

Re: Window Motor Testing/Cleaning

I can't help out with how to clean them up, except for making sure the regulators themselves have lubrication in the channels. Mine were fairly clean when I picked them up.

You can test the motors out of the car using a 12V power source (spare battery, charger, etc). Connect the power to the two terminals on the motor and it should run. I had this done with the regulator attached. The motor will move the regulator the length of its travel, then stop as it encounters resistance. Switch the leads of the power source and the motor will reverse direction.
