1992 wont crank or start help please
Hello there, can someone please help me? Im going into my third week now.
Well heres whats going on, I have a 1992 rs camaro 305 tbi. Well the engine was getting old so it was time to put new life in her, drove it in smoking and all , removed old engine and installed complete brand new long block finished up with all the vacume hoses ,wiring ,ect all done. I went to start her and it wouldnt even turn over, not even a click. I have headlights, and battery voltage is good. I only have one dash light on which is the srs inflation light. There is no check engine light, no security light, nothing!!! I checked the ground cables, checked pos cable, checked all of my fuseable links and I have power there, removed and checked starter, checked ohms in key and wirines under dash are all good. I took a power probe and shot 12 volts to the purple wire going to the starter and she cranked over that way. But as far as using my key, nothing. I have checked my wired at my netural safety switch and power seems to be all good. I have put a jumper wire from the green to yellow on the fuel enable relay. The car will crank that way but no start. Is this a VATS problem? I have been told to look for the passive decoder module under the dash. I spent 6 hours looking for this module and I never found it. Is it possible that this module could be hidden somewhere else in the car? I have also contacted Baker Electronics Company in Beckley, VW and purchased a VATS bipass wiring kit. As far as I can see and tell the wiring harness is still in the factory state. Is it possible that even though my key ohms off of my key match the ohms measured at the 2 wires with the orange cover are there any more wires in the key switch that could break? Please someone help me!!!!!!!! I am lost. I have had 3 other technicians help me with this matter and no one can seem to help me.

If you have power out of the fusible links, but not at the ignition switch (or in the dash (same thing)), then the break has to be between those two. Headlights are on a separate circuit. Maybe a wire on the firewall could have been clipped when lifting engines out and in? The only other thing it could be is the C100 firewall connector. It's usually located behind the fuse panel and might be a pita to get at, disassemble, & assemble. VATS doesn't kill everything like this, only cranking.

WELL WENT A LITTLE FARTHER TODAY . FOUND THAT I HAVE POWER TO THE ECM, CHECKED PINK WIRE WITH BLACK TRACER AND .,ALSO HAVE POWER ON THE ORANGE WIRES AT THE ECM. I ALSO NOTICED THAT MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT COMMING ON, THE ONLY LIGHT THAT IM GETTING IS THE INF REST LIGHT . SO IM GETTING POWER THREW THE BULK HEAD WIREING HARNESS , MAN IM SO LOST ,I GONNA HATE IF I HAVE TO OPEN THIS HARNESS , OH YA ALMOST FORGOT I ALSO TOOK A TEST JUMPER WIRE AND JUMPED OUT THE STATER RELAY AND IT WOULD CRANK THIS WAY UNPLUG THE JUMPER AND NOTHING WELL ILL KEEP TRING ,,,

The orange wire is the memory backup and is a separate circuit that comes from a separate fusible link. I guess the Inf Rest Light is also powered by a separate circuit. These two things says nothing about the lighting and ignition circuits getting power through the bulkhead connector. They have their own two wires. Check for power at the big red wire at the ignition switch. The ctsy fuse is on the other circuit and should also have power at all times. The only thing between these two and the battery, is the C100 bulkhead connector and two fusible links.
