92 RS Ignition problems

I have a 92 RS and the ignition is stuck in the on position. I can not remove the key or get the cylinder to turn back. It will crank but i have to unhook battery and other stuff to get it to shut off. I have removed the air bag and steering wheel but i am stuck. There is a small round pin i guess you would call it at the bottom of the shaft that i can not get off. it is very tiny. i have a book but it shows you using a U shaped tool to depress the shaft to release tension on this pin but my steering colum inside looks nothing like what is in the book. Can any one give some advise on how to proceed forward to get the ignition switch out so i can replace.

Please help!!!!
thank u

Re: 92 RS Ignition problems

Sounds to me that you have a broken ignition lock cylinder. I went through the same thing when the car was in the shop for something else - finished the job they were doing, started the car and moved it, then couldn't shut it off.
