Remote Coil

I've been searching for a remote coil for an 85 iroc but the part was listed for 87 and up, is it possible or a good idea to install a remote coil. Also I would like to know which is the best brand to use.

Remote Coil

I went with an accel coil. There are ones that you can use your existing wiring harness on.. Or you can do like I did, Modify the harness just enough to use another coil.. There are 4 main wires on the stock coil. I believe they are only pink and white. You can put pink to pink, and white to white. Then run one side to + and one to - on the remote coil. I believe the white side is the tach side or - side.. Been a while and you might want to look at the schematics. I can post them for you if needed.

Re: Remote Coil

I'm running a GMPP crate motor, GenI 350 with carb, and the HEI. I would also like to relocate my coil as well because the motor was moved towards the back of the car a good 6" from the original location for better weight distribution.

If anyone can comment on what's a good kit that would be great. Right now I'm looking at the MSD skinny cap, but it looks like I'll have to run one of their MSD-X ignition boxes as well.
