Wiring for door sensors

Hi i have a 89 camaro and I just got an alarm installed and the people who installed the alarm told me that the wiring for my door sensors were not there. So in other words my alarm does not work for my doors. They told me that I have to fix the wiring and I can bring it back and they will fix the alarm, but I was wondering how do I fix the the wiring for the sensors? thanx for any help in advance

Re: Wiring for door sensors

I didn't think there were door sensors on most alarms. The door open trigger is wired to the dome light circuit so that when the light comes on, the alarm goes off.

Re: Wiring for door sensors

To my knowledge the only camaro to ever get "door ajar" indicators was the Digital Berlinetta from 84-86. In the 84 berlinetta used additional door 'pins' ( similar to the door pins for the interior lighting ) that were installed near the door striker..... in the 85-86 that was ditched for a door sensor mounted directly to the door latch mechanism. There was also an additional sensor placed at the rear hatch during these years.

It's possible that the Digital Dash GTA's also had this feature.

Whoever installed your alarm should have known this !!!!

I think this is what the guy was talking about. So the wiring from those pins are wired straight to the dome light?

Re: Wiring for door sensors

The door pins supply the ground for the dome light, 12V on the other side of the light comes from the fuse block (20A CTSY)
