Swapping Gauages Between Clusters
I own about three gauge clusters, and one on, temperature gauge works, but th speedometer does not and they all act funny when the lights are on.
There is another cluster which works fine, but does have a working temperature I am still about to install an aftermarket temperature gauge but would like to still have the original work.
So my question is, can i take the gauge off one and put it into the other? And have everything work fine?

Re: Swapping Gauages Between Clusters
as long as both clusters are 82 to 89 units the guages will swap.
Just unscrew the clear lens and the metal bezel, then the 2 hold down screws for the guage and it unplugs from the cluster, then reverse process to put the other one in, dont even need to take the cluster out.
Are you sure its the guage and not the sender in the drivers side head? might be worth checking.

Aftermarket... ppl keep sying where to put them, but none of them seem to make sense.
::sigh:: they say in the dead middle of the engine on the left or right... And i do see a screw but there are 3 on each side and that doesnt seem right...seeing how i have a v6...
Afraid to unscrew the wrong thing and have my car ****ed more than it is now...

Re: Swapping Gauages Between Clusters
ooooh you are looking for where to hook the sender for an aftermarket gauge...right? temp gauge right?
man I havent looked at a 60* v6 in like 7 or 8 years. I honestly can't remember where the gauge sender plugs in. I remember the sender that feeds the ECM is in the front of the MPFI manifold, just like on the TPI. I would assume the gauge sender is in a similar location to the v8 either on the drivers side or passenger side head.
the sender is the same for 6 or 8, its either the single blade type or the 2 prong weatherpak connector.
BUT...... I found this thread here...has a nice pic
