Radio Time

Hey i have an aftermarket cd player what would cause it not to keep time it resets itself every 3 to 5 hours

Is that dependent on whether the igntion is on, or off?

Normally, the deck will retain memory through the constant 12 VDC lead
connected. Some even keep settings in an EPROM.

If you have the constant 12 Volt lead connected to a switched power, it
would reset every time the key was removed.

What brand and model of CD player do you have?

the ignition will be off
its an older SONY cd player
