Need electrical help with 87 Iroc-z
Hello everyone, I am truly a novice when it comes to car. I will start from the beginning. I in the Miami area and have a automatic 87 Iroc-Z camero with the 305 engine. The orginal problem that car had was it would not stay on. Some times it will start and than immed shut down. Other times it will not turn over at all; The problem was sparatic. Took it so shop, the owner stated that he is 110% sure it is a electrical issue and after replacing the computer and distributor, the car ran fine without any problems. Now, 3 days later, my car is acting like it wants to cut off again when I at traffic lights. I did little investigation and this is what I found:
* When car is in drive, RPM goes between 15 - 10 when car acts like it is about to cut off. Has not cut off yet but keep studdering like it will.
* If I put the car in park or start car to leave, it seems like sometimes it will idle higher than what is use in the past. Between 30 - 40 before it goes back to the "normal" 20 -25 idle. Sometimes it would idle high like that, I was just tap the gas couple of times before it goes back to normal.
Battery and alternator gage looks good and it does not seem a power issue
So far it drive great, I do not have any issues when it is actually driving.
Before I am stuck on the side of the road again, do you happen to think it could be the idle sensor. I remember I had a 89 vette that use to idle high sometimes and it turned to be either the idle sensor or oxy sensor, cannot remember exactly.
I appreciate any suggestion,
Thanks
