Could this be a Wiring thing?
Could this be a Wiring thing?
Well over the weekend my car lost power while driving. Battery was drained so I got a jump well it turned over got like 1 mile and happened again so I thought alternator. So I got it replaced and worked fine for a day. Took it out today and it happened again. The battery and the alternator are both from autozone and the alternator is like 3 days old the battery is about 6 months. Any ideas on what this could be please help me out.

What kind of car are you having trouble with? Is it loaded with electrical accessories, maybe an aftermarket stereo system or an alarm? What works and doesnt? Any hacked wiring? Need more info...

Thanks for the reply. Sorry didn't think to add it. Well the car had a cd player installed when i bough it. The amp guage has never worked so I don't know if that helps or not. No alarm on the car. O its a 88 Iroc and it has a L05 Block with carba and some other goodies.

Electrical issues can be frustrating and time consuming to pin point and trouble shoot but, starting with the basics... What power accessories does it have? Do you have an under hood light and or a lighted rear hatch, doors, windows, cig lighter, and your stereo, etc.? Anything added to and working on and or wired to constant battery in the fuse panel, like maybe your stereo?

take your battery back to Autozone and get them to test it (have them check the new alt. too... they do it for free. Automotive batteries don't like to be completely drained... more than once, I've had a bad alternator kill what was a good battery (I guess it could have been the other way around)
I've heard that for a while(3 - 6 months ago) autozone had received a batch of defective batteries but the ones they have now are good . ( my daughter works for AZ and I got to hear her complain about all the week old batteries she was having to change out) I don't know if this was regional or nation wide.
