Headlight Pop Ups, Not Popping :p
Hi all,
I've looked around searching for headlight issues and did a few things already that were suggested in other forums.
I knocked on the relays and the headlights don't pop up
I checked the fuses under the dash and they are all ok
They do what other people have had happen to them, they'd eventually pop up after hitting bumps. Well they've stopped doing that entirely now. I've wiggled all the wires but still nothing.
I'm pretty sure the motors are ok, when I wind them manually they don't grind or snap or any bad sounds other than the click click click when you reach the end of winding up the lights.
Maybe I know the answer already, go get new relays. Is there a way of testing the motors themselves to see if they run? When I turn on the lights they don't run continuously which would lead me to believe the bushings are warn and to get that kit to fix it.
If I need the relays, should I get all three? and more importantly - where do I get them lol
Thanks

Wouldn't I hear the motor trying to lift the lights though? I mean they have some pretty good volume when they are working normally.

Checking if anyone else could add to enswrob's comment and ask if there was a way to check if the motors are actually working and it's the relays.

Got them working, had to back off the manual cranks all the way to the out position. Working fine now.

annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd they've stopped working again. No amount of bumping/shuffling is getting them to pop up (sounds like the start of a viagra commercial...)
Of course, they were working a week or two before the appraisal guy comes over and of course murphy's law - they stop working. Lights come on, no sound from motors, no spinning of knobbys. *sigh*

Mine are doing the same thing, I have a 82. I was told its the switch. for me they would pop up and then just shut off all together while driving, it was working then not, then not popping up, all the things you said. So i was told it was my interior light switch itself. a guy came over, banged on the dash and presto, they worked. two weeks later nothing, not parking lights either. so next week im ordering the light switch off ebay, 30 dollars. And hopefully she works

No bushings. He has a 82-86 three wire motor. Bushing kits only apply to the 87-92 two wire headlight motors. I do sell a kit for both the three wire and two wire headlight actuators.
