Fuel Pump????
Just got done pulling out about 40 lbs. of wires that the previuos owner had wired to every fuse in the car. Anyway now the fuel pump does not kick on when the key is put in the on position. so i tried to jump the orange wire to the grey wire at the relay and got nothing but if i run a wire from the battery dirrectly to the grey wires it turns on. so is there a problem with the orange wire or the grey?

Re: Fuel Pump????
Measure the voltage (or put a test light) on the orange wire and you'll find out right away. If there is no voltage on it, check the single fuse by the battery. It's attached to the inside of the fender. It powers the fuel pump and the ECM.

tested the orange wire at the relay and got no light and the fuse is not blown. the only way to get power to the pump is to run a wire from the battery. could the problem be with the orange wire? where does the orange wire go from the relay?

Re: Fuel Pump????
What year/model/engine? It would be a good time to fill out your profile. It will help us help you.
The orange wire goes directly from the fuse (on the fender) to the relay socket. Is the fuse holder dirty/oxidized? Did you try a new fuse?
Also, if you can find the Oil Pressure Fuel Pump Switch (on 90+ models above the oil filter, on 90- models on the back of the intake), can you test the orange wire on it? It's the same orange wire that goes to the fuel pump relay. It would tells us more where the problem might be.

Re: Fuel Pump????
simplistic way, aslo can be anti theft. run a wire from the ignition fused of course directly to the fuel pump. problem solved. if u want custom anti theft and know about relays and how they work. u can ire it so that certain things in the car have to be on for the pump to operate. ex. radio : have to have face on for the car to start. once u understand relays u can have a series of small things that have to be on or pressed in order for your vehicle to start. ex. brake pedal pressed, radio face on-radio on, little stuff that not even your best friend would notice. car won't start unless all of thing things u wired were on. so suttled nobody would know unless u were drunk and started talking
