Re: How to install a hatch release switch ?

You should already have the connector from the dash harness to the center console in your car. You will need a relay and harness from an 88 & up car as the 82-87 ( or so ) relay and harness has a different plug on it. To complete the set-up you will need a console button, a 86-90 PPD hatch motor "pop" soleniod ( the 82-85 hatch pop soleniod is different ) and a long heavy gauge wire to connect the relay to the soleniod. ( if the wire was cut from the relay/harness )

Hope this helps !

thanks for the reply but idont have any connection because i just opened the console and there is nothing!! may be because even the windows are manual and there is no connection but the hatch motor is there because it is an 89rs and it works perfectly!!
i taught i can bridge 2 wires from the back to the console and is done!!

i am sorry but a circuit diagram will be morehelpful if you have any

The hatch motor and solenoid are two different parts. The motor pulls the hatch down. The solenoid pops the lock, like when you unlock it with the key.

You should have those wires in your center console though. Mine were on the left side, right below where the box sits (90 RS, manual windows, no factory hatch release). They may be tucked under the edge of the carpet.

Yeap, no power windows, no hatch release, and the wires were in there.
