Hello, New to this so be patient please

I have a 1989 Firebird. When I bought the car the headlight motors were bad. Replaced both motors. When I turned them on only one worked. Tested the motors and both worked in both directions. Replaced the box on the firewall that says "guide" on it (think this would be the headlight module). Now they go up but not down. My 1986 trans am doesn't have the same set up I noticed so I can't swap out the modules to see if I got a bad one.(Got the replacement at a salvage yard) Any ideas?

Sounds more like a bad headlight control module from junkyard than the headlights themselves. If the worked before putting the box in, I'd bet on the box.
Instead of buying bad boxes from a junkyard, it might pay off to buy a new one. I thought they were in the $50 range.

I have the same problem on my 89 firebird i traced it to a shorted wire where the harness goes through the fire wall right behind the fuse box. If you need more info let me know.

 

My 85 trans am drivers side headlight goes up but will not go down. The passenger side works fine, and the motor works both ways. Im thinking a short but have no clue were to start?
