IAT Sensor

Hi, this is my first time posting here.

I have a 1999 3.8L V6 Firebird, and I just purchased a Surge Performance Chip. I need to find the IAT sensor on my car. I was wondering if anyone could show me a picture of where it is on this model? The instructions say I need to cut, and splice the wires coming out of the IAT sensor with the chip. It would be great if you guys could tell me which ones are which...I'm confused, but I would like to learn. Thanks.

Re: IAT Sensor

The V6 engines have the IAT in the air intake runner, on the driver side.
As depicted here: (click to enlarge)

The "chip" and "splice" sound a little fishy in one sentence? A performance chip is usually placed into the ECM case, it is not spliced into any wiring.

A splice sounds more like the $0.05 resistor mod to make the ECM think it's colder outside and dump extra fuel into to engine to make it run rich and pollute more.

Hope this helps.

Re: IAT Sensor

Thanks for the picture man! I found the plug, and put the chip on. It may not be professionally done ( I'll clean it up this weekend). Sorry I didn't get a dyno reading or anything, but personally I feel about a 20 to 30 Horse power increase! I can feel the easier transitions and acceleration.
