Help: High amp FP draw w/starter (diagrams inside)
I've been trying to diagnose a problem with the 3A Crank fuse blowing during starting, leading to a dead fuel pump and no fuel (when starting). I pulled the fuse, and when starting I saw that there was >15 amp current draw across the 3A Crank fuse contacts. So it looks like the starter is trying to pull some massive ground current through the wire to the relay ground. What could be causing this?
Car is an '86 T/A L69 (vin G). See the service manual diagrams that I've included in the post.

Update: I pulled the wiring to the starter and checked to make sure that the purple wire was going to "S", and the other three (battery, 2 reds) going to the main big terminal. No shorts or bare ends there, but I still pop the fuse when cranking. Could it be the solenoid on the starter going bad?
