91-92 Speedometer VSS question

Converted a 91 GTA to carb, no longer have the ECM, was TPI. Speedometer no longer works. The wires coming off the VSS (purple & yellow) were cut. Is it possible to wire one of those directly to the grey wire at the d207 connector to get the speedo to work? I've been reading though past posts, not sure which of the two wires carries the 4000ppm or the 2000ppm signal. My understanding with the 91-92 TPI cars is that the ECM passed the signal from the sensor to the speedo, there is no vss box.

Thanks
Kevin

Another carb swap? Oh man, what a waste of a perfectly good GTA.

Ground the purple wire. Take a 1A/100V diode and hook up the yellow wire to the cathode and the C207 grey wire to the anode. That will restore your speedometer's function.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, I will give that a try. I honestly regret coverting the car over. Hope to put an Lt1 in it someday.
