anyone know H.E.I really well?

so does anyone know about chevy High Energy Ignition? does it fire off at 18 volts or boost the voltage?

it takes the battery voltage and boosts it. i don't remember the specs on the stock coil, but the MSD stock replacement coil is something like 42,000-45,000 secondary voltage.

Depends what you mean by "fire off". The coil driver output of the HEI module is nominally 12V.

I have an accel super coil it is 45,000 volts. But i am wondering if the distributor or coil whatever boosts the 12v up to 18 v????
