Car: 1988 Pontiac firebird
Engine: built 350
Transmission: 700r4 built up to 600hp
Axle/Gears: stock for now
Speedo problems

I dont know if this is in the right section, but since i had my car it has speedo problems, i was going to buy a new aftermarket one but id figure id try and save this one, well the problem, once i start moving it just goes right to 92mph and stays there until i stop. Whats wrong?

Most likely, the problem is in the speedometer gauge control circuit but there is always a chance that it's something else. Trying to swap in another speedometer gauge would tell you for sure. They can be found at a junkyard for not much cash.

How hard is it to swap them? I know the closest junk yard has many many third gens, finding parts isnt a problem.
