1988 rs tail light issue
Hello well im new to these forums and id just like to say i bought my first car its a 1988 camaro
problem is car came without the tail lights attached so i hooked them up today, i noticed the light bulbs are differnt as well as the sockets they attach to "ovoiusly" but my problem being the only lights that are working atm are the signal lights, break and reverse have yet to work, my question is do i need to close the trunk for the those lights to work "to complete a circuit maybe" because i notcied a break light on the spoiler, OR it may be possible i put the wrong bulbs in the wrong sockets, i kno i may be flamed but plz im pretty new to cars, there is a 1 pronged bulbm with a socket with the connection right in the middle i conected those so as i belive those would work right? and then my reverse light sockets have their brass connection peice more to the right where it seems a single pronged bulb cant reach, should i put a double pronged bulb in there? plz and ty for dealing with my noobishness

Ok, your Brake lights will be "two contact" 1157 or 2057 bulbs It dosent really matter wich ones u use they are essentially the same bulb anyways.
The reverse lights are a "Single contact" 1156 bulb (Same bulb as used for turn signals. Try that and let us know....
Hope it helps!

I agree with hot92RS, your posts are "slightly" unreadable, lukeylouk. Try to use English, punctuation and correct spelling. It will help US help YOU.
Do your hazards work? If not, check the STOP/HAZ fuse, it powers the hazards and the brake lights at the same time.
The reverse lights are actuated by the transmission (manual) or the shifter (crapomatic). The key must be ON for the reverse lights to work. They are powered by the same fuse as the turn signals so you can assume that the fuse is good.
As the guys already pointed out, check the bulbs first, you'd be surprised how often the previous owners neglect the cars.
Hope this helps.

Re: 1988 rs tail light issue
k guys sorry for my spelling and those who cant understand me, i gusse its a generational thing where old guys cant read young ppl's "peoples" typeing? ha ha jk "just kidding".
anyways.... for the hazards only turn signals are working, and atm i have no one to tell me if the reverse lights work because im by my self atm "at the moment" and its 35 degrees "c" at 1 p.m in the afternoon
hope my translation can help bridge the generational gap
*edit*
and yes i checked where i put the bulbs and all of them should work i bought all new ones today :s

Re: 1988 rs tail light issue
You can still check the reverse lights by yourself. Just turn the key on, do not start the car, put it into reverse(auto or manual) and then check it. Thanx for the language ed.

Dont werry, Im hip wit da nu genertion and there langage cuz I lisn to da youngstors and Im in, da shiznit, bro.
Anyway, hot92RS is right on the money with the reverse lights, no big deal to check them yourself.
Stop complaining about 35°C and get back to work!
j/k
No seriously, it finally "cooled down" here to 35°C and we're thankful for it. I was unbearable to see 100°F at 7pm (!!) for weeks straight. So I know what you're going through, believe me.
Which side of the pond are you on? (it would maybe help to fill out your profile a little - I know, I know, in due time)
When you said "for the hazards only turn signals are working", what did you mean? Turn signals are working, good. Do "all-four"/hazards work too when you press the button on the steering column? If not, your STOP/HAZ fuse is likely blown.
Let us know.
