Starts but won't run! '88 Camaro 305 TBI
I finished rebuilding the 305 TBI in my '88 Camaro. The problem I am having is that it will start but won't run. It will start when I hold the key in the start position but when I release it into the run position it stops. Also, my fuel pump is not priming or pumping fuel. (I had to pour a little gas directly into throttle body to get it to crank, then I discovered my ignition problem.) I've check all my fuses and they're all ok.
Could these problems be related? I don't know where to start searching for the problem. Solutions?

fuel pump should kick on approx 2 sec for priming. id start with the fuses and go from there

Well there are many posts for similar problems so you might want to do a 'Search this Thread' tool in the upper right of each forum: Like ECM and TBI forums and use words like fuel pump and other similar words. But most suggest that you verify your fuel pressure is about 10.5 PSI. If your fuel pump is not running at all or the fuel pump system has a leak or your fuel filter is clogged or an associated relay is blown then you cannot build adequate pressure to allow the fuel injectors to 'spray' fuel into the engine. So you should investigate these items. When you turn OFF the air conditioner and try to start the car you should hear the fuel pump activate for two seconds. You can then turn the key off for 20 seconds and perform the same test and you should hear it turn on again for another two seconds. If you cannot hear that then you might check for a related fuse. There is a fuse in a protected cover located near the batter in the fender area that I believe is related to the fuel pump. Have you checked that fuse?

I'm willing to bet money that the ignition switch, the one on top of the column itself, is out of adjustment. I had the same thing happen on a 1987 gmc sierra, and once I adjusted the switch it was good as gold.

You might try reading through this post in the DFI-ECM forum. It discusses a wiring issue. The subject car would run in the 'CRANK' phase but immediately stop running in the 'RUN' phase:

After you check out your ignition switch and it works, you can try this tech article to troubleshoot the fuel pump circuit: http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=35
Hope this helps.
