Mystery plug #1 is running down the passenger side and ends near the battery. It may have connected anywhere over there though and just set up there during engine removal.

#2 is on the firewall, passenger side. I am going from TPI-->carb and I keep finding wires running to this thing and I don't know if I can remove them or not.

Car is an 88 350 TPI Camaro..or at least it was.

 

So I guess I'm not the only one who doesn't know what these are. Anyone?

I went out and checked my car to see what they are. Your first pic is hood light wires. It doesnt go to the front of the car, but it runs up the hood hinge and across the hood and plugs into the light. The wire with the ring lug is the ground. Your second pic with the connector on the firewall looks like it goes to the heater, like blower motor resistor or relay on the heater box. Cant really tell since both sides of the connector dive into the harness. Hope this helps.

 

That does help. I couldn't figure out what that wire laying up next to the batter was for. Naturally I didn't think about it being the hood light. At one time I had them all taped and marked but the weather washed away the markings on my tape. Next time I'll invest in a better marker.

Yeah, since I'm doing a carb swap I'm trying to figure out that connector on the firewall. My harnesses are largely a thing of the past. I'll try to trace the wires down and see where they go.
