Melted Fuel Pump Relay Harness
So my car would not start and I got it towed to my mechanic. We found the plastic harness that clips into the fuel pump relay was melted. A few years ago I installed a 255 lph BBK fuel pump. The mechanic thinks this may be drawing more amps and melted the plastic harness. We are going to install a new relay and clean up the wiring harness and monitor the condition. It may new a stronger relay. Has anyone experienced such a problem maybe due to a stronger fuel pump?

Re: Melted Fuel Pump Relay Harness
Quick update to this post. We installed a new fuel pump relay and I just ordered a new wiring harness from TPI Parts. The car starts fine now. I will monitor this to determine if I need a stronger relay by feeling the relay to see if it gets hot. The mechanic also stated a loose connection could have caused this problem.

It's not completely unheard-of, even with stock pumps.

See the following part:

TPI parts have various other wiring harnesses and connectors as well.
