fan fuse location??

hello

know anybody where the fan fuse is located?
i have do a search but can`t find my question/answer!!

i have a power problem on my light brown wire to the 2 fan relays
there is no power on it so the fan`s don`t spinning!!

only what i do is rewire the battery and altenator wire for a thick audio cable!

i have seen on the original altenator cable there were 2 smaller cables with i think a fuselink that go not to the battery!

i have cut the fuselink and connect the cables right on the battery!
should this be the problem?

and i have tried to connect the light brown cable from the fan relay to another ignition cable!
but when i do that the altenator don`t charge!!!

so i think there is a fuse problem or wire problem!

please i hope you can help me

thanks Dennis (from the netherlands)

Re: fan fuse location??

You will find the "FAN" fuse in the fuse block under the driver's side fuse door. The 20 amp fuse also supplies power, it acts as a signal, to make the alternator charge. The fan circuit starts at the fuse and then on to the firewall bulkhead connector. From there it follows the engine compartment wire harness, which is 1inch split black wire loom. There is a barrel connector in the wiring harness behind the rear of the drivers side head that splits the wire so one wire goes to the fan relay and the other to the alternator.

I'd start with checking the fuse first. If its ok, then you most likely have a problem in one of the connections with corrosion in either the bulkhead or the barrel connector. There are wiring diagrams on this site that help.

My 1991 firebird fan stopped working last winter when I ran the car in my garage. Had the same problem as you, no voltage to the brown wire with the white stripe. Put a lot of time into this one, so if you need more info let me know.

Don't understand some of the things you already tired, but hope this helps.

Re: fan fuse location??

hi zegman

many thanks for your answer!
i have finaly fix the problem!

it`s hard to explain how i fix it but i`ll try it!

i have 2 fan`s so i have 2 relays!
when i disconnect 1 of the relays my altenator is charging!
when the car is running and i put that 1 relay on it the altenator don`t charge!

so i have a bad relay, you should think!
but when i put 2 good relays on it the altenator don`t charge!

so i have 1 good relay on normal function!
and i have 1 new other relay (hela) fix on the other cables!
but i have make 2 manual toggle switch with a light in it
so i can only put the fan`s on by manual!

this because the NEW sensor`s don`t work!
i don`t understand that to!

but for now it`s oke!
i can put them on when i want it!

so i have tryed to explain how i did fix it in my own english words
sorry if you don`t understand that!

but again many thanks for your answer it is helpfull for the nex time and other people!
