ERROR code's 23 and 44
ERROR code's 23 and 44
Ok first let me say hello to everyone (I looked for an introduction page, but my anxiety led me here first)
I just purchased a 1992 Camaro RS with the V8 305 and 700R4 trans combo...I have the check engine light comming on about 5 min after driving and yesterday I pulled the codes and got a 23 and a 44.
I k have the HAYNES manual and know what they mean, but I am at a loss for where to start replacing sensors to fix this.
has anyone ever had this combo before or had one of them? If so, what did you replace to fix the codes?

Re: ERROR code's 23 and 44
Code 23 is either a bad air temp sensor or a bad throttle position sensor. Check both of those to make sure they're both plugged in and there isnt a broken wire.
Code 44 is is a bad oxygen sensor. Again, check it to make sure its plugged in and doesnt have a bad wire.

where is the air temp sensor? I looked them up, and there are different ones, anyone know which one would pop the code 23?
When I look them up online and go to Autozone (diagram) it dosent nessassarily have just an air temp sensor they have different kinds of "temp" sensors in various places...I'm thinking its manifold temp sensor
thoughts?

I also get a code 23. My check engine light comes on after the engine idles for a moment. Sometimes it goes off and comes back on later. I replaced the MAT sensor and it still didn't help. It doesn't seem to affect the way it runs but it's still annoying.

On a TBI engine, the air temp sensor should be plugged into the air cleaner assembly.
It might be the sensor, or its wiring, that is bad.
