Electronics - Make another light on if two others are on

I'm not much of an electronics person but is there something on the market like a relay etc that will turn another light on if two others are on? I'm hooking something up to my hazards, and would like another light to be on when the hazards are flashing.

I'm trying to avoid having another switch to use, just throw the flashers on and the other will turn on. Right now I have this third and fourth light turning on when I have my flashers on, but it also turns on when I use my signals so I'm trying to avoid that happening

Basically what it is is amber safety lights that I need to use in construction zones, I have to have the hazards on anyway, so hooking in to that switch would make it that much easier. I have 2 on the front that wig-wag in their own little shells, and another wide one for the back that also wig-wags in it's own shell.

Right now having them on my turn signals make people think I'm a cop even though they aren't blue/white/red. Had one person pull over in a parking lot, so I had to disconnect them.

Thanks!

The hazards have a separate flasher that you can tie your existing set-up into. Yes you would want to pick up a relay from the auto parts store.

Should be a brown wire coming out of the convience center where your flashers are located. Don't your other lights pulse on and off wired to your blinkers? You'll have the same issue with the hazard circuit unless you use an $80 timer relay.

wire the relay before the flasher but after the hazzard switch. You'll turn your hazzard switch into a normal switch that puts power to both the flasher and your other lights. simple.

getting to the wires that come from the hazzard switch should be simple as they come down the column but im not sure.

you tie the relay into that switch and youre done.

unless you want your other lights to be flashing or are they just solid amber safety lights?

Both flashers are in the circuit before the hazard and turn signal switches and are always hot. When the hazard switch is closed it completes the circuit through the lights and the flasher pulses (due to a load on it now) the positive current fed int the switch.

This way you don't have to have any ground wires going into the column. Just the hot supply lead from the flasher, to the switch and out to the lights. The lights are always connected to ground completing the circuit path.

Thanks for the replies

The amber lights that I have added on have their own flash sequence and just need a constant power source once turned on with the switch.

So this relay could also be bought in say, Radio Shack? Wherever it is bought, are basically all relays the same?

just go to an autoparts store and tell them you need a 12volt relay. they may or may not ask, what amp rating. tell them what is going to be drawing power after the relay. 40 amps btw should be enough. make sure to fuse the power wire within 6 inches off the battery that is going to the relay. the 12v+ after the hazzard switch but before the flashers will be going to the relay and will just trip the relay to ON allowing power to go straight from the battery to your added lights.
