Re: tpi to carb gauge help
Alot will depend on the Emission law's in your area. Most will let you upgrade (Going from carb to TPI) but you will need the check engine light to operate the way it should for what ever combo you choose, OBD1, OBD2. If you are emissions excempt or will not be running on the street then this will not apply to You and you can use what ever you like and scrap the computor. I would still visit a junk yard and find a simular year to see exactly how much is missing, and I would recommend you look at another camaro instead of a Trans Am for there are some differences in the engine compartment.

Re: tpi to carb gauge help
In 1986 the Camaro's used 3 main harnesses in the engine bay.
1) for ECM (runs behind the passenger side fender to the ECM )
2) for the headlights ( Thru Firewall on drivers side - to left )
3) for engine / gauges ( thru firewall drivers side - to right )
All you need to get connected for the gauges to work is the ENGINE harness.
Look at all pre 86 cars that you find in the local boneyards. Most V6 carb engine harnesses will work on a V8 - but you might need to add some length to allow 1-or-2 plugs to reach their target. 87 and later cars ( depending on the engine ) mostly used 2 harnesses in the engine bay ( 1 for healights and the other harness comined all the wires for the Engine & ECM)

Re: tpi to carb gauge help
thanks thats all i need to know. the eng harness and headlamp harness is all in tact. so it should be as simple as buying the factory sensors and hooking them up. another question i was wondering about is of course it was a fuel injected car their is 2 lines on drivers side 1 return and 1 main. i hooked up the battery and turned the key to run position but no fuel came out. am i missing something due to the comp harness missing or do i have another issue. like bad pump ect.

Re: tpi to carb gauge help
The fuel pump relay is part of the ECM harness. The relay is mounted to the Relay bracket that should be mounted to the firewall above (over ) the C100 Engine bay harness. No Harness - no relay - no working pump !
