1985 camaro will not crank
1985 camaro will not crank
I have just installed a 383 with a TPI on it into a 1985 camaro Iroc/z and the car will not crank over.I have 12v going to the starter(big term) in crank and run.I do not have 12 v going to the starter terminal(the small term) on the starter in crank or run. This is an aftermarket starter.I have had the starter tested and it is ok.I have jumpered 12v directly to the small term and the engine will crank. What could be the problem?Ignition switch or the Neutral safety switch or something else.......thanks, Scott alias irocket

if its not the neutral safety or the key switch check the vats. make sure there is not a light on the dash that says security. if vats is your problem then the security light on the dash will stay lit up.

Re: 1985 camaro will not crank
85 model year did not have VATS and TPI was not an option for the Camaro in 85 either Would the motor crank before the engine swap? What are you using for the Engine electrical system. What year is the ECM from? The bulk head connector is where the wires come from that run down to the starter. I am not sure it the small wire is a fuseable link or not but try pulling on it to be sure it is not fried. Check to see if it startes in gear or neutral. If you did not pull the steering column or the shifter this should be set corectly already.
