No Brake Lights...

As it reads, I have lost my brake lights. Still have tail lights, but both of my brake lights are gone. Operating under the assumption that they didnt just happen to go out at the same time, something else has malfunctioned. I suspected the little switch on the brake pedal and find there are two. I white one with wire hook-up, and a black one with some kind of hose attached. Which one is likely to be the culprit, and could there be anything else at fault here?

BTW car is 1991 Camaro RS

Thanks,
Max

WHO BREAKED THE BRAKE

The former.

The one with the hose is for the cruise control.

The one with the hose is for your cruise control. Simple check on the other switch with a test light - only hot wires go to the switch. Probe each wire on the switch - both wires should be hot with brake applied. Only 1 wire will be hot with brake off. If neither wire is hot, check fuses.

Re: No Brake Lights...

Alright thanks...

Been pretty cold here so I havent been too fired up about working on it, but the fuses were the first thing I checked. I never overlook the cheap fix. Anyway, I'll be getting on it here soon (supposed to warm up some during the week), if I run into any problems I'll post up.

Thanks again,
Max

Re: No Brake Lights...

I have an 88 GTA. Just searching posts for some answers. Maybe I have found it? My left brake light has recently stopped working. I changed all the bulbs and checked all the fuses and nothing. Tale lights are working fine. Right brake light is also working. I was unaware of the switches being talked about above the brake pedal. My cruis control also stopped working a little while before the brake light. Could those switches have anything to do with these issues? Thanks

The second brake switch is for the third brake light and the cruise control. Also double check the light bulb is not burned out and put in the correst way. Sometimes the easiest things are overlooked.
