Trying to figure out what this is....
Trying to figure out what this is....
My engine's a total mess, thanks to the guy before me....been trying to identify everything under the hood, so I can straighten it all out.

Can someone help me out with this one? It was sitting on the driver side, next to the master cylinder. I've looked through my wiring diagram, but I think I'm just missing it.

If you tell us what engine, we might be able to actually help you.
Without that information, it'd be just guesswork.

Ah, my mistake.
1986, 305 TPI, automatic.
Also need to add this into the query:

Looked around, haven't found what they plug into. Again, driver side, near the master cyl.

the top pic has to do with your starter and ignition I believe and the first wire on the left of the second pic looks like your engine temp wire the connector is located between two spark plugs on the driver side of your engine. Not sure if that is the wire .I will look under my hood tomorrow and see if I cant help you with the second one.

In the first picture, that has nothing to do with ignition or starter.
That's a fog light relay.
The second picture looks like the A/C high-pressure switch. Is your A/C on the driver side?

Awesome, so there's one mystery relay figured out. Thanks!
And my A/C is on the passenger side....

What are the other wire colors in the second picture? I could only make out the darkgreen/white wire. That would help more. And where do the wires go?

The one on the left, has a black wire, and green wire.
The one on the right has a green wire with white stripe, and a light green wire, with a black stripe.
Both lead into a harness, that has another wire coming out of it, and plugging into the driver side head, near the headers. Engine temp sensor?
Sorry for my utter lack of technical terms, trying to get caught up to speed with where things are on this car, as fast as I can.
Here's a picture of the other wire, that comes from the same loom.

Re: Trying to figure out what this is....
Yup, those are the A/C compressor wires. The green and black is for the clutch (although it is badly disfigured) and the dkgreen/white ltblue/black is for the pressure switch (on the back of the compressor).
I would almost bet my life that the 1986 TPI engines had a V-belt system with the compressor illogically on the driver side. Maybe the previous owner moved it to the passenger side? Do you have a serpentine system now? (I see an unused bracked in your last picture)
Is anything plugged into your A/C compressor? Does it work?

My car is a v-belt, and it used to have a compressor where that unused bracket is, so that all makes sense.
Glad to know I don't need to worry about these two. Supreme Member
